Northern Resident Orca off Hanson Island, BC

Chat Live with OrcaLab Founders

Paul Spong and Helena Symonds founded OrcaLab in 1969 in a quest to study Northern Resident orca whales off the coast of British Columbia. By installing underwater hydrophones, OrcaLab is able to monitor the movement of whales throughout the year.

Explore recently partnered with OrcaLab to add an exciting visual dimension – our new series of live Orca Cams, advancing both organizations’ philosophy of bringing viewers closer to nature without disturbing it.

Join us tomorrow, September 24th, at 11am PT on the OrcaLab Base Cam to chat with Dr. Spong and Symonds. We’re honored to have these passionate and knowledgeable marine mammal experts as guests, and it’s your opportunity to ask them any orca questions you have, from the songs of orcas, to the size of whale families, to diet, to whale behavior and culture.

Just go to the OrcaLab Cam and type your questions in the comments section. We can’t wait to hear from you and learn about these magnificent creatures!

Never miss an orca encounter! Sign up for real-time text message alerts. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to get up-to-the-minute news and updates when orcas are on their way.
