Lodging on the Tundra: Prepping for Polar Bear Season

One moment that defines the beginning of polar bear season in Churchill is when Frontiers North Adventures moves their Tundra Buggy Lodge® out onto the tundra. It can be pretty intimidating to take multiple thousand-pound vehicles out across the unpredictable tundra, rolling over the rocks and through the muddy holes while hoping an axle doesn’t break. Even if the trek is treacherous, it is always very satisfying when the lodge gets to its rightful place at Polar Bear Point and gets set up for the next two months. It sleeps 40 people comfortably on bunk beds, and includes a dining buggy and a lounge buggy. It’s a pretty neat vacation where one can wine and dine in the evening, under the aurora borealis and surrounded by polar bears. The Lodge waits quietly now until the first wave of tourists arrives to have an experience of a lifetime. You’ll be able to see what they see from the two Polar Bear Cams mounted on the Lodge. We hope you enjoy the view!
