Zen Den: Manitoba Sunrise

It’s Friday. Enter the Zen Den. Manitoba, Canada is the site of several of our Live Cams including the Beluga Whale Sky Cam and soon to return, the Polar Bear Tundra Cam. Located in Winnipeg, by the time winter solstice rolls around, there are just 8 hours of sunlight in Manitoba with the sunrising at 8:30 AM and setting by 4:30 PM Alaska Time. Check out this time lapse video from our Zen Den Collection and see how calming and pink things get from up here. Did  You Know?

Zen is a school of Mahayana Buddhism that developed in China during the 6th century as Chán. From China, Zen spread south to Vietnam, northeast to Korea and east to Japan.

The word Zen is derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the Middle Chinese word 禪 (dʑjen) (pinyin: Chán), which in turn is derived from the Sanskrit word dhyāna, which can be approximately translated as “absorption” or “meditative state”.

Zen emphasizes insight into Buddha-nature and the personal expression of this insight in daily life, especially for the benefit of others. (Wiki)
