Leslie And Lizzie

Retired Staff Sergeant Leslie Wohlfeld served her country for 26 years during post-Vietnam, Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom. During her deployment in 2003-2004 to Afghanistan, she was exposed to rocket attacks, daily AK47 harassment fire, and mine explosions. As a result, Leslie now lives with PTSD and injuries to her lower extremities, causing her to become isolated and hyper-vigilant.

“When I received my welcome to Project HEAL and ‘boot camp’ it reminded me of my own Boot Camp in the Army. I may be too old for Boot Camp, the training and bonding, etc. But in the end, what ECAD has done by pairing me with Lizzie is bring me smiles, happiness, and the ability to love again!”
