Happy Thanksgiving! Pics of Panda Toddlers Devouring Pounds of Bamboo

When it comes to eating bamboo, this is how it’s done. Panda toddlers Xing An and Gong Gong got some big bamboo shoots to eat. They loved every bite of them too! Check out the pics from Panda Cam #3 captured by Cam Op Lee.

Lee recently returned from a trip to the Bifengxia Panda Center Sichuan China. You can read Lee’s first hand account of volunteering with the pandas and see more really, really cute photos of the Giant Pandas

Did You Know? Pandas eat 25- 40 lbs of bamboo a day, but they also will eat flowers, fish and meat. Captive pandas get treats of carrots and apples. Pandas eat up to 14 hours a day. Unlike other bears, the giant pandas do not store fat and therefore do not hibernate. Consequently, they are constantly in search of food. Bamboo will occasionally “die off” forcing pandas to migrate to other areas to find enough bamboo- this is why protecting their habitat is extremely important.
