Don’t be a spoiled sport like Lurch… Join the Live Chat tomorrow!
Join us on Tuesday, September 9th, for a general Brown Bear Cam chat with Katmai Park Ranger Grant Hilderbrand at 4 PM Alaska/ 5 PM Pacific/ 8 PM Eastern.
Ranger Grant is a wildlife biologist for the National Park Service and you can read about his rescue of Divot, back in August, from a wire snare here.
Head over to the Lower River Cam on Tuesday afternoon. Submit your questions for Ranger Grant in the comments here and join the Q&A. Lurch will see you there!
Ranger Grant, could you please explain hyperphagia? Will we notice changes in the bears behavior? Are the bears more dangerous to be round when they’re in hyperphagia?
What do you do if a bear if a bear comes after you?
Ranger Grant.. I would love to know what your guess would be on how much Otis weighs.. Thank you ..
Ranger Grant – would a new large aggressive male fight the top dominant bear first (here 856)? does new bear also have to fight off Lurch and 747 as well?
Will the cub holly adopted den with her this winter?
Previously you had said that Otis is approx. 900 lbs, but I’ve been told that Lurch is even bigger (and more dominant). What is the age and size of Lurch?
Has there been any monitoring of Divet since her procedure? Her wound looked so swollen and infected – would be interested to see if she has healed.
