1 Day to Owlets?!

Thanks to tombytheyough for this snapshot! Great Horned Owls incubate their eggs for about 4-6 weeks. We are now in day 41 of the Great Horned Owl incubating her eggs, so we can expect hatchlings to emerge any moment now! See them on the Live Cam here.

Great Horned Owls asynchronously lay 1-4 perfectly spherical white eggs in a clutch. The eggs hatch about 2 days apart. Hatchlings are covered with pure white down which is replaced in the first three weeks by long, soft, grayish buff down, mottled dusky on back.
