This Week on Explore (6/1)

We’ve had quite the week on the Sauces Bald Eagle Cam! First, Corsair had an accidental fledge when his sibling, HP, pushed him off the nest. Have no fear, Corsair quickly climbed his way back to the nest.

Shortly after Corsair and 19A have fledged the nest, enjoying their wings but staying nearby for lots of food and reassurance from Mom and Dad!

This week, we also met Milton the new calf at Farm Sanctuary!

The Anacapa Falcons are starting to grow their feathers!

This week we learned Five Fascinating Facts about Great Horned Owlets!

Sadly, we have to end our weekly recap with some sad news. The Decorah North Eagles have lost both their eaglets on the nest. DNN had a rough season, losing their first clutch and now losing both their eaglets. We know Mom and Dad are still resilient and we look forward to seeing them thrive next season.

Heartbroken about Decorah North, but Mr and Mrs North will be back for a great next season…I predict!!!

Wondering how Shark Cam is coming along? Anacapa Kelp is the only “wild” underwater cam left… Those underwater cams must be a huge pain to deal with though. I commend the Explore team for installing and maintaining those cams. They are an opportunity like no other, to sit down and watch what’s happening right this instant in the fascinating underwater world!
