Registration Special For The Hog Island Audubon Camp

Sign up now for island fun! Walk in the footsteps of Roger Tory Peterson, by experiencing the nature programs for adults, teens, and families at the legendary Hog Island Audubon Camp in Maine.

2013 Instructors include Kenn & Kimberly Kaufman, Scott Weidensaul, Steve Kress, Clay & Pat Sutton, with more to be announced.

Scholarships are available through local chapters and National Audubon.

2013 Program Schedule:

Maine Seabird Biology & Conservation May 31 – June 5 and September 8-13
Get involved with seabird conservation with Audubon biologists!  In the spring, census nesting eiders and gulls and visit the restored puffin colony on Eastern Egg Rock.  In September, improve habitat for terns, puffins, and Leach’s Storm-petrels.

Joy of Birding June 9-14
Hone your birding skills during the height of the nesting season while revelling in more than 200 species of New England birds.

Field Ornithology June 16—21
Immerse yourself in the lives of birds during an intensive session of tours and workshops led by expert ornithologists and top birding authors.

Coastal Maine Bird Studies for Teens June 16—21 and June 23—28
Get ready for an action-packed program with some of the country’s best-known birders, authors, and ornithologists.  For teens ages 14-17.

*NEW* The Arts of Birding June 23-28
Under the guidance of some of the country’s best bird artists, photographers, recordists, and writers, use words, images, and audio to enhance your birding abilities.  No experience or talent needed!

Sharing Nature: An Educator’s Week July 18—23
Learn inspiring and practical environmental activities to incorporate into your teaching while exploring Maine coastal and island habitats with expert naturalists.

Family Camp August 20—25
Explore tide pools, pristine forest and ocean life with our expert naturalists, and finish each day with songs and a campfire.  For families with children ages 8-12.

Fall Migration and Monhegan Island September 15—20 and September 22- 27
Take part in a special session focused on autumn migration.  Interpret night flight calls and overnight on Monhegan Island during peak fall migration.

Involve your Organization
In 2012, over 50 Audubon chapters and other organizations offered scholarships to generate publicity and inspire their members with new experiences. If you are affiliated with such a group, please consider sending someone to a Hog Island program in 2013.  Space can be reserved in the organization’s name until you choose a participant.
