I’m The Only Boy!

Levi is the only boy pup in Holly’s Half Dozen Angel Litter of future service dogs, so that makes this submission extra special. There were many boy names submitted, but we could only draw one out of the hat! Here is the heartfelt story by Debbie Gatlin Pissott that accompanies sweet little Levi’s new name:

“Nine years ago, a ‘breeder’ brought me a dying 2 day old golden retriever puppy. His mother had rejected him and in trying to feed him, the woman had gotten formula in his lungs. He was so sick and so tiny that I doubted that we could save him. He lived in my shirt that first week because he would shiver if not snuggled. I tube fed him until he was able to suckle a bottle. My husband, who was a disabled Vietnam vet, fell in love and named him Levi. They were inseparable. For nine years, wherever Dennis was, his loyal and loving companion was by his side. Forget the fact that I worked so hard to save his life, Levi lived for Dennis. This past November, Levi got cancer and died. We were devastated. Two weeks later to the day, Dennis suffered a fatal heart attack. In looking back on the joy and comfort that this unloved, pitiful little puppy brought to us,  but my husband in particular, Levi was a very special guardian angel and I like to believe that he waited for his master and that they are together now.”
