A BIG congrats to our partner service dog organizations – Warrior Canine Connection (WCC), East Coast Assistance Dogs (ECAD), and Bergin University of Canine Studies – for four (FOUR!) happy, healthy new litters of future service pups. November was a big month for babies as four mama dogs gave birth to a total of 42 puppies across the United States. If that wasn’t already extraordinary news, the best part is we get to see them all grow up! The litters will be raised from newborns to service dogs right in front of our eyes from each of four live cams. So let’s find out a little more about the litters and the organizations they work with. And of course see some pics of the new pups!
Warrior Canine Connection is an organization that helps wounded warriors reconnect with life, their families, their communities, and each other. It’s a therapeutic program that engages service members and veterans who struggle with PTSD by teaching them how to train service dogs for fellow veterans. By working with the service dogs, the warriors’ symptoms of PTSD are alleviated. Olive, a Yellow Lab with WCC had a Thanksgiving birth last Thursday! She welcomes 5 girls and 4 boys.

Another Thanksgiving blessing was the arrival of 9 Black Lab pups for Anna at Bergin University. Bergin University offers degrees in human-canine relationships, canine-related businesses and leading-edge dog training and assistance dog partnerships at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Their official announcement: “After a marathon 15 hour labor and being up for almost 40 hours we welcomed our next litter of future service dogs to Bergin! Miss Anna had a litter of nine puppies- six boys and three girls. They are tired but are all doing wonderfully!” All but one of her pups will return to Guide Dog Foundation or their sister organization America Vet Dogs to be trained as guide dogs for the visually impaired or service dogs for a wounded warrior.

ECAD’s Maya, has given birth to 11 puppies – 4 girls and 7 boys! This is a first litter for the 2 1/2 year old yellow lab golden retriever mix. Spenser, the father of this litter, is a stud dog from Guide Dog for the blind foundation who has bred for ECAD in the past. So far, 100% of his offspring have gone on to work as service and therapy dogs. ECAD’s mission is to enable people with disabilities to gain greater independence and mobility through the use of specially educated dogs.

Born on November 24th to Emme, a 4-year old Golden Retriever at ECAD, were 13 puppies! She now has 10 boys and 3 girls for her first-ever litter. Woof! They’ll grow to become service dogs as well. Best wishes, Emme!
