We Are The Burns Brothers
We are the Burns brothers, and our goal is to unite every American veteran suffering from PTSD with a service dog who can be a best friend.
Service dogs can help people with physical disabilities, amputees, and the blind, but they also can help people suffering from injuries like acute anxiety or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
PTSD is not an injury that you can see. It’s not like missing an arm or a leg. It is an injury that is inside of the brain, but it can make life just as hard to live as a physical wound. Some veterans who suffer from PTSD have trouble doing regular daily things. Sometimes it’s hard to be in public places, to hear loud noises, to be in cars. Often, PTSD comes with terrible nightmares and moments of rage or sadness.
A properly trained service dog can be a comfort to a veteran suffering from PTSD. Just knowing that a dog is nearby can be calming. Dogs can sense a nightmare before it happens and wake a person up. Dogs can know when a person is getting nervous and lead them out of a threatening environment. Dogs can help to heal.
You can help us by signing our petition to urge Congress to fund the cost of service dogs for our wounded war veterans. Thank you for your support.
