Vultures At The Wait
In possession of a keen sense of smell, turkey vultures rely heavily on this sense to forage for carrion. When they eventually track down a scavenged meal, they need often stick their head inside the carcass. Given that pieces of the meal can stick to the feathers. The bald head, ultimately, is a matter of hygiene to avoid bacteria from accruing.
Often found soaring on the thermals, turkey vultures are often drawn together to descend on an abundant food source.
