Leader-Dog-In-Training
This week, Leader Dog-in-training Ivy and the other dogs in the Dog Bless You-appointed team began learning their Intermediate Skills. Ivy embraced the early morning fog and displayed a genuine eagerness to overcome the obstacles ahead of her. From construction barriers to street crossings and the noises of the downtown traffic, the potential distractions were many. Ivy re
mained focused on the task before her while her trainer stood at her side, teaching Ivy how she should approach an obstacle and when she should adjust her path. It seemed almost instinctual when Ivy began to weave and dodge through the obstacles on her own. Throughout each set of obstacles, Ivy also learned how to approach a street intersection and what she needed to do to lead her trainer safely across. When Ivy remained focused even when a stuffed squirrel was placed directly in her path, it was clear that she was destined for the career that lies before her. As Ivy’s training session came to a close, she and her trainer enjoyed their success in the autumn air. Ivy will undoubtedly face many more obstacles in her future, but with her training, she will be prepared to conquer them.
