Each fall in Churchill, Manitoba hundreds of polar bears gather along the Hudson Bay and wait for the sea ice to form. The frozen bay act as a platform for the bears to capture their main source of sustenance – seals. Until temperatures drop and other conditions come into play polar bears will snack on vegetation – but that’s hardly enough food to satisfy an animal that can easily weigh 1,000 pounds. So, in the meanwhile, they’ll roam the tundra and wait for the deep freeze. In this video clip from PBI, a mother and cub polar bear duo trek the arctic until the seal getting is good:
