Roger And Niles

Meet COL Roger Lintz, U.S. Army, and his Paws for Purple Hearts Service Dog, Niles. COL Lintz suffered serious spinal injuries and was later diagnosed with PTSD while deployed in Iraq. He was airlifted to the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, where he underwent numerous surgeries and was the first active duty Army officer to receive a PPH Service Dog. A towering 6’6″, COL Lintz was paired with Niles, a “gentle giant” chocolate labrador retriever trained at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center by patient trainers in the Paws for Purple Hearts program.

COL Lintz begins a new chapter in his life next week at the FBI in Washington, DC. This picture was taken in June as COL Lintz and Niles graduated from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Drug Unit Commanders Academy.
