Saint Francis Service Dogs is a non-profit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities to become more independent and self-sufficient through partnerships with professionally trained service dogs.
Cyrus is the first and only German Shorthaired Pointer that Saint Francis has ever placed. His partner Devon has developmental delays and autism and is almost entirely nonverbal. Cyrus helps him manage social situations and navigate in public. He is a soothing presence at home and helps Devon by tugging doors opens, picking up items and carrying small bags when needed. Mostly, Cyrus makes Devon profoundly happy and content.
Devon’s mom answered a bit about their partnership:
What do Devon and his dog like to do together for fun?
Devon and Cyrus love to swim together.
What is Cyrus’ favorite thing to eat?
They BOTH love mozzarella cheese!
How does your dog bless your lives?
Cyrus offers Devon unconditional love and acceptance. If Devon could speak he would say “With Cyrus I can always be me!”
