The Service Dog Project gives people more than hope; the Great Danes trained in Ipswich, Massachusetts allow people with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons, and other ailments and debilitating injuries more independence and greater stability. SDP trains Great Danes as service dogs and partners them up with recipients who get both a helper and a friend in one. Sometimes the recipients are children.
Bella is a 9 year-old living with Morquio Syndrome, a syndrome associated with short stature, enlarged heart, abnormal skeleton development, and other ailments. George, the Great Dane, in only a year old but has taken on this great responsibility of acting as a balance dog for Bella. They share each others company every Friday through Monday, and in that time have grown in love and trust for each other. Since he is so young, George is still in training and must learn to accompany Bella to school next year. We can watch part of his learning in the video below, as the pair practice walking alone together in a public setting. Great job, guys! We’re proud of both of you.
