Earlier this month, both Southern and Northern California were devastated by wildfires. Thousands of structures were burned, countless families left without homes and loved ones, and several animals displaced from their owners. The explore.org community stepped up when we needed it the most and donated $110,000 dollars to SoCal Wildfire Relief. As promised, we matched every single cent donated to Ventura County Community Foundation.
Because of your inspiring ability to mobilize, we’re excited to announce an additional $220K grant to wildfire relief efforts in Northern California, where large regions were also devastated. The grant will be dispersed among North Valley Community Foundation, California Fire Foundation, and Jameson Rescue Ranch to aid in the recovery of the community, firefighters, and animals. Thank you again for mobilizing to help people in need!
We are so thrilled to announce that we have brought back Bat Cam with our new partner, Lubee Bat Conservancy! Their two cameras, Mixed Species Flying Fox and Giant Flying Fox, are sure to turn your world upside down! Come watch now!
Service Dog Project has welcomed a brand new litter into the world! Born on November 10th, Mischa has welcomed eleven healthy puppies who will go on to become future service dogs! Watch here!
Warrior Canine Connection has also welcomed a new litter of two sweet pups! Both will be trained to be service dogs for veterans suffering from PTSD!
Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans for our cams. A large storm barreled through the headquarters of OrcaLab and nearly took out our camera! Don’t worry, though, no sea lion was clearly disturbed during this!
On Giving Tuesday, we help a live chat with Raptor Resource Project where they answered questions about the past bird season. Watch here:
