OFSDS Weekly Update (8/31)

Construction continued with a permanent roof added over the 4 outside wooden pens.  This roof will allow the dogs in these pens to spend more time outside.

Dog Update
  • Hailee underwent emergency surgery for bloat.  Thank goodness her symptoms began during working hours and that staff were there to notice her distress and get her to the vet hospital  for immediate surgery.
  • Lollipop moved from Reception to BDH.
  • About 10 dogs got some great exercise this week.  Volunteer Brooke stopped by for what most weeks is a regular stop to take most of the dogs that don’t get along with other dogs out for individual walks.  The dogs weren’t the only ones getting exercise as Brooke really gets a workout.
To Forever Fosters
  • James is now in a home with Old Friend Cher who is now Shiloh and another resident dog.  Good boy, James.
  • Smudge also went to a home to join several Old Friends already in residence.  I dont think I will be the only one who will  miss Smudge’s loveable face.
Special Foster Need
  • Relative newbie Lillian, a pit mix,  needs a foster home with no other animals..  She is great with people.
New Arrivals
  • ZuZu – Shih tzu
  • Maxwell – Doxie
  • Nina – Chihuahua
To the Rainbow Bridge
  • Our Grand Dame Sophie was helped across the Bridge as she was  unable to recover from a major seizure.  She was 18 years old and had been with us for about 3 years.
