Some Good News for the Endangered Bengal Tiger
As the human population and industrial needs grow, it’s hard to get good news for endangered animals. But this back page story from December shone a little light on a dark spot. Thanks to initiatives in India, Thailand, and Russia, tigers are making a slight comeback.
“In India’s Nagarahole and Bandipur National Parks, for example, a combination of strict antipoaching patrols, surveillance, voluntary relocation of people away from tiger habitats, and scientific monitoring have helped the big cats rebound to the point where they have saturated the two national parks” (NatGeo).
While their population is still frighteningly low, news like this gives us newfound hope.
