Simple to make and convenient to carry, the bamboo flute has been a favored instrument in China for centuries. Many elderly people, particularly those living in the rural countryside, will often take their flute during breaks in their workday and play it by a nearby brook or stream. A 9,000 year old flute was found in the Yellow River Valley of China. These musical instruments are a part of Chinese tradition that continues to live on today.
