The team is up in the Tundra

The team is up in the Tundra preparing the live cam as the polar bears of Canada enter the sleeping hibernation and gather along the shores of Hudson Bay to wait for the ice to form so they can return to their seal-hunting grounds. A few viewer questions were answered this week about Churchill and its polar bears:

The western Hudson Bay population of polar bears is about 1000 bears. There is an actual town of Churchill which is located where the Churchill River meets the Hudson Bay. The area where the Tundra Buggy and Lodge cams are located is the Churchill Wildlife Management Area, a conservation area that is about 850,000 hectares.
