Sometimes you need to get above the fray.
Pandas start climbing at six months and are very adept at scaling the heights of their old-growth forest habitats. As they age, pandas may not climb as high, though trees can be used for other things useful like backscratching and lookouts. The San Diego Zoo had a post on their blog last year about their Panda family’s climbing preferences.
