Service Dog Basketball Association : Amazing Tales Of The Service Dog Project

By JDR-IN

It’s that time of the season when basketball is king. Things are no different here in Ipswich, MA, as the Service Dog Project Basketball Association has just completed round one of their tournament. The results were as follows:

Game 1 – Chuppies vs. Muppies  – This game went down to the wire, with Wendy hitting a long three ball as time expired, propelling the Chuppies to a crowd-pleasing 65 to 64 win. Casper led the Chups with 27 points, while Onyx paced the Mups in a losing effort with 25 big ones.

Game 2 – Nuppies vs. Pimentos – Totally out manned in sheer numbers, the Nuppies played valiantly throughout the first half; and at half time were only down by seven 10 to 3. In the second half, lead by a gutsy performance from Magnus under the boards, the Nuppies roared back, for an exciting 36 to 35 win. Magnus led the way with 16 rebounds, and Murphy and Mariah each scored 15 points. Lefem poured in 27 points for the Pimentos.

Game 3 – SDP Employees/Volunteers vs. SDP Farm Animals – Camera Mark kept shooting, scoring an incredible 63 points, but it wasn’t enough, as the Farm Animals led by Mary & Jinny who literally kicked and hee-hawed their way to a 102-90 win. Mary’s inside work resulted in 42 points and 18 rebounds.

Game 4 – House/Visitor Dogs vs. Big Pups BPs – This one wasn’t even close; the BP’s teamwork revolved around their big center Perry, and in the end the House/Visiting Dogs didn’t have a chance, losing 107 to 82.  Ebony and Willow each tallied 40 points in the win. Hey Dawg and Luna combined for a Herculean effort of 70 points, but it wasn’t enough for the lackadaisical House/Visitor squad.
