Polar Bear Part Importation Legislation In Congress

Two new bills have been introduced in Congress that call for the legalization of the importation of polar bear parts to the United States. Rep. Don Young (R-AK) has introduced the bill, “To amend the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 to allow the importation of polar bear trophies taken in sport hunts in Canada.” A similar bill, the “Polar Bear Conservation and Fairness Act of 2013,” has been introduced in the Senate by Mike Crapo (R-ID). 

Of all the things Congress could (and should!) be debating, importing polar bear parts isn’t one of them! Want to make sure these bills don’t become law? Contact your representatives in Congress and the Senate and tell them that the polar bear needs to be protected, not hunted for sport!
