Out on the Lower River spit, mom bear 171 and her roly-poly cub are approached by another mom, 132, with three cubs of her very own. 171’s cub, shy and a perhaps a bit wary huddles behind her protective mother. Watch the little one stand to look over her mother’s shoulder. The two moms smell each other out from a distance, and with little contention decide that both tribes can share the spit for the time being. 171 eventually finds trusting the other family more trouble than it’s worth and takes her cub into the river to be alone together.
