An End And A Beginning

At the end of an exciting and inspiring week at PBI Leadership Camp, our teen participants were inspired by close-up views of the polar bears near Churchill—and asked to describe what they got out of camp and what would they take home to make their mark on the world.

Here’s a little of what they said:

I’m taking away the inspiration and motivation to want to make a change.  Kat Smith

If you can look in the mirror at the end of the day and say to yourself, “I’ve done everything I can do to reduce my carbon footprint,” then find two more things. Sarah Smith

I now have a better understanding of the life of the polar bear and climate change. Erica Wirth

I learned a lot of information and ideas for action from my new friends. I can’t wait to use all of the help and resources I now have to make a change. Jeanette Carbajal

I’m going home with a huge pool of new ideas, and the realization that projects don’t have to be big in a stature to make a difference in the community. It is more important to involve lots of people in small actions. Emily Nettesheim

As a result of what we’ve experienced and witnessed this week, I feel obligated to impact my community in a positive way.  I am madly in love with the bears and feel it is my responsibility to save them. Jack O’Neil
