A Full Nest!
At 3:44am PDT today, June 9th, the third Hog Island Osprey egg hatched, completing Rachel and Steve’s family this season.
Experts at the Audubon Society say: “It’s a mixed blessing, sure; when fish in the area are limited, sibling rivalry can be intense, and the younger chicks may starve. However, this particular area of Hog Island where the nest is set up sees abundant food, so little competition will most likely occur.”
