The Decorah eagles ready their nest for eggs.

The Decorah Eagles Are Live on Explore!

The Decorah Eagles have landed at explore.org in a new partnership with the Raptor Resource Project. Together we bring you our latest live cam, the Decorah Eagles North Nest Cam! Positioned in a secluded forest ouside Decorah IA, and 56 feet off the ground in a white oak tree, the live cam captures stunning and intimate views of the home life of an eagle pair as they raise chicks from eggs to juveniles.

We expect the female to lay 1-3 eggs in the next several days, with both mom and dad incubating them for about 35 days until they hatch. The parents will take turns hunting or foraging for food, bringing it alive or dead to the nest and tearing off pieces to feed their chicks. The couple will protect and nurture their offspring until the young ones branch off on their own at 10-14 weeks of age.

We’re proud to partner with the non-profit Raptor Resource Project. Established in 1988, they specialize in the preservation of falcons, eagles, ospreys, hawks, and owls. They create, improve, and directly maintain over 50 nests, provide training in nest site creation and management, and develop innovations in nest site viewing, bringing people closer to the natural world.

Welcome to the nest! Stay tuned for live chats and comments from Raptor Resource. While you’re visiting, take snapshots and share them in the comments section or email them to social@explore.org. We’ll share some of the best and give you a personal shout out on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
