Tropical Sponge Bath
On the Aquarium of the Pacific Tropical Reef Live Cam, you can visit 1,000 animals in 350,000 gallons of water. This great snapshot from an explore.org fan highlights the sponge on the lower left corner, but don’t mistake it for a plant.
Sea sponges are actually animals – and hermaphroditic ones. They can filter food as tiny as bacteria through their spores. Read more on sponges here, and see all the animals on the live cam.
