We’re pleased to be partnering with two bright Audubon Research Interns as they live among and study the puffins and other seabirds on the Seabird Restoration Program’s research islands. Aubrey Alamshah and Liam Berigan will contribute fun and educational blog posts about their experiences living on Seal Island and Easter Egg Rock. They’ll also hop on the Puffin Burrow Cam comment board to chat and answer your questions. Let’s learn a little more about them!
Aubrey is an education intern working with the National Audubon Society’s Project Puffin. She’s currently assisting in research on puffins and terns on Eastern Egg Rock Island, and works as a narrator on Puffin Tours as well as at the Project Puffin Audubon Center in Rockland, ME. This is her first year working with Project Puffin. Before Project Puffin she worked as a research assistant on a study with New Zealand Falcons in Taupo, NZ, and as an educator and caretaker at the Ohio Wildlife Center in Powell, OH. She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan with a degree in Zoology. She loves birds and birding and is excited to talk to you about Puffins, Osprey, or any other kind of bird!
Liam Berigan is a rising junior at Cornell University, where he studies Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He’s been particularly involved in conservation policy writing through his participation in the Roosevelt Institute Campus Network, and regularly engages in environmental outreach to college students through Cornell’s Ecology House program. In his spare time, Liam enjoys biking and conducts population research on House Sparrows.
Great to meet you Aubrey and Liam! We can’t wait to chat with you on the Puffin Burrow Cam and learn about your experiences living amongst the seabirds.
