Molten rock rising from 60 to 70 miles beneath the ocean floor, is currently fueling the continuous eruptions of Kilauea Volcano within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Since 1952 there have been 34 eruptions, most are relatively gentle. However, every few decades, Kilauea tends toward powerful and even lethal explosions.
