Island Introductions

This summer, eight supervisors, three resident interns, and many more rotating interns and volunteers will spend the season on the seven different islands that are research locations for Project Puffin and the Seabird Restoration Project.

Maggie is supervising Eastern Egg Rock, home to the world’s first restored seabird colony. Her resident intern is Kristina.

Halley is supervising Jenny Island, a 3-acre island in Eastern Casco Bay.

Caroline is the supervisor on Matinicus Rock, the most remote of the islands, 23 miles offshore. Interning for her is Anne.

Outer Green Island, 5 miles east of Portland, is supervised by Mike.

Adam supervises Pond Island, which lies in the mouth of the Kennebec River.

We’ve already heard about Jenny and her intern Emily B on Seal Island, which is a 65-acre island, 22 miles offshore in outer Penobscot Bay.

Finally, John and Emily P will be supervising Stratton Island, a 24-acre island in Saco Bay.
