The Turtle Bay East Cam is a favorite for sunrise photos, but explore.org fan Nanikai60 captured a fantastic full moon over the ocean last December.
Turtle Bay gets its name for the Green Sea Turtles that visit the area and lay eggs on its shore.
Did You Know? Turtle hatchlings don’t actually need a full moon to hatch and find their way to sea. It’s a pretty myth, but these little guys “are born with the instinct to move toward the brightest direction. On a natural beach, this direction is the light of the open horizon,” (fwc.org).
See what you’ll find during a full moon on the Hawaii Live Cams here.
