Rwanda is located just south of the equator and bordered by bordered by Uganda,Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa.
The country’s principal language is Kinyarwanda, which is spoken by most Rwandans. The major European languages during the colonial era were German, and then French, which was introduced by Belgium and remained an official and widely spoken language after independence. Rwanda has been a unified state since pre-colonial times, and the population is drawn from the Banyarwanda; this contrasts with most modern African states, whose borders were drawn by colonial powers.
