Amazing Tales Of The Service Dog Project
Post by JDR-IN
In the future and from the very beginning my sole intention for writing/displaying these tales are to support the work being done by everyone associated with The Service Dog Project in Ipswich, MA. These tales are based on information I glean from Carlene White’s “Doggie Daily” and from viewing the explore.org SDP cameras & viewer comments, and the many outstanding photos/videos made available by many others that support the work of SDP. My tales are entirely “fiction” and I write them knowing full well that I have no written/verbal approval from anyone directly associated with SDP. I sincerely hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them. – JDR-IN
Dedicated to CARLENE – Please get some needed rest when you can!
8 P.M. – It’s Monday night racing live from Ipswich Indoor Racing Track, where only the finest stock car racers in the greater Boston area compete. Representing The Service Dog Project from Ipswich, MA, is car #24 driven by Oscar the Great Dane.
In attendance from SDP is Carlene, Priscilla, Hilary & Megan along with the BP’s (Roxanne, Ebony, Lola, Willow & Mia). Carlene and crew are taking a break this evening from all the excitement of this weekend’s big delivery. Everyone needs a break sometimes, and at no cost, using her universally accepted SDP entry card, Carlene is making the most of her valuable time. Now in the stands from the BP’s is Perry. Perry, being a bit of a mechanical genius, was in the pit area working as the supervisor of Oscar’s pit crew (The Chuppies).
9 P.M. – Racing has been tremendous tonight and we are now on the last lap with Oscar ahead by seven car lengths. Final turn on the straight a way, and OH NO, Oscar is spinning out of control just yards away from where Carlene and the girls are sitting. Oscar has avoided the wall, but rammed into an unattended hot dog vending cart. All I can see is flying debris heading toward the stands. I shudder at the thought that the fans may be hurt. Then Megan, looking directly at Ebony, screams, “Wait…. Wait…. Wait.” Ebony did so, somewhat impatiently. Then when Megan said “OK,” Ebony leaped off her seat and in a flourish of incredible skill, snatched every bit of hot dog debris rocketing into the stands. In less than a nanosecond, Ebony had saved the day. Megan petted Ebony and said, “Good Girl!” This reporter is so happy and through all the steam coming from the cart and Oscar’s car, I could see that Oscar was OK, and was trotting back to the pit area to the delight of Perry & the Chuppies; especially Ivy & Maggie, both of them smiling. Looks like another SDP adventure with a happy ending is coming to a close. Take care! JDR-IN
