No Dog Left Behind!

Members of the U.S. military stationed on bases all over the world find comfort and strength by befriending local animals while serving abroad. SPCA International began Operation Baghdad Pups at the request of many U.S. military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The organization provides veterinary care, safe transport, and placement for these animals that US service members have grown to love and nurture during their deployment in the Middle East.  Today’s featured Rescue Dog of the Day Moses came to the US with aid from Operation Baghdad Pups. His owner Erika Simono told us Moses’s incredible story:

Moses

Moses was found in a basket on the river

Moses is an SPCA International Baghdad Pup! He was found as a newborn in a laundry basket floating down towards the Tigris River in Baghdad (hence the name Moses!) A military contractor rescued him and contacted SPCA and they helped get Moses to the US. Unfortunately, Moses did not fit in to a couple of different homes in Austin. We finally adopted him and he has been with us for about 5 years. He is a fun dog and we are so happy he made it into our lives!

Kind regards,
Erika Simono

Thanks Erika for sharing this incredible story and shining a light on the services that organizations like SPCAI provide. And for sending in Moses’s happy face! Everyone else, keep sending in photos and stories of your rescued friends and we’ll feature many of them here. Want your own rescue story?
