The Gray Seal Cam is live when the sun is still up on the east coast.
You can always catch the highlights after hours, but right now is a GREAT time to check out the camera and see the baby seals live - like this newborn pup.
It is wildlife and things do get wild! This is their mating season and while they have few predators on land, there are some bald eagles looking to feed their own young. Mostly, be prepared to catch adorable, fuzzy, white seal pups and their moms.

Too Cute Tuesday
Genny caught this screen shot of a mother gray seal feeding her baby on the live cam.
The Gray Seal Live Cam is set up on one of the largest breeding spots in the world for these animals.
Did You Know?
“There are three primary gray seal populations. The greatest populations are in the western Atlantic and off the coast of the British Isles. The western Atlantic population lives off the coast of Nova Scotia and may be found as far south at Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. The smallest of the gray seal populations is in the Baltic Sea” (LA Zoo). http://www.lazoo.org/animals/mammals/seal_gray/index.html

Too Cute Tuesday
The Gray Seal Cam is turning heads - mostly white, fluffy ones.
Gray seals actually range in shades from gray to black, and males are darker than the females. Newly born pups are covered in a soft, feathered, white fur, which eventually falls off - around 3 weeks - when they first enter the water and begin to feed on their own.
Check out one of the newborn pups in this short one minute film, or see what’s happening live now.

It’s been up, down and knocked around! But our Gray Seal Cam is up and running.

Mothers are on land getting ready to birth, and males are looking for mates. Seal Island is covered in the Gray Seals (who are cute, white and fuzzy when born) and our live cam is catching the life cycle - offering highlights of the season that’s just started.

“During the 4 to 6 week breeding season, males and females will not hunt or eat.  The males do not defend territories, but instead maintain harems of females.  They maneuver better on land than other members of its family and may crawl far inland to give birth.” (ConserveNature.com
