You’re never too young to sing the blues. King Fish here is about to prove that. Let Mississippi show you how it’s done this Sunday afternoon.

Did You Know?

“One of the first documented blues to be written is W.C. Handy’s ”Memphis Blues” written in 1909.” (source)

Too Cute Tuesday
We’re using this Too Cute Tuesday to draw attention not only to the playful smiles seen here, but the strength of those smiles through ongoing turmoil.
These Darfuri children are seen here at the Merlin medical clinic in Gereida. Explore.org  grants $1 million to aid in emergency medical care here, where normal health care is hard to come by and made less accessible due to the conflict: “Since 2004, Merlin has been providing vital medical services in Darfur, both to thousands of displaced people fleeing conflict and to the equally underserved local communities. Merlin offers comprehensive primary health care, focusing on maternal and child health, disease prevention and health education, through a network of static and mobile clinics in the region. Accessing rural communities is a daily challenge in Darfur and our programs are constantly adaptabed to ensure we can provide vital services to the greatest number of people possible” (Merlin).

Too Cute Tuesday
Baby humans are pretty adorable too, though their stories are easily overlooked in the world of adults. We’re using this Too Cute Tuesday to draw attention not only to the playful smiles seen here, but the strength of those smiles through ongoing turmoil.
These children are the indisputably innocent bystanders in the long-running war (genocide) in the Darfur region of Sudan. Explore.org grants $1 million to aid in emergency medical care here, where normal health care is hard to come by and made even less accessible due to the conflict.

This happens every Sunday night. The weekend is over. The call of Monday and return to office can feel almost depressing. So we say, live in the moment! Turn up the music! And feel the beat!

The djembe, common throughout all of West Africa, is a skin-covered hand drum shaped like a large goblet. Watch as people come together to perform traditional African dance to the beat of this drum. Explore.org grants $25,000 to the Children’s Christian Storehouse to support a training and performance pavilion for children in Ghana by providing the resources and opportunity to “Reach Beyond Their Boundaries.”
