A loyal assistant from Saint Francis Service Dogs

Saint Francis Service Dogs help in the kitchen

Saint Francis Service Dogs is a non-profit organization that helps injured US veterans, children, and adults with disabilities to become more independent and self-sufficient through partnerships with professionally trained service dogs. One veteran named Eric may not look disabled, but he broke his back during his service in the Marines and lives with severe chronic pain. His service dog Diesel makes his life easier by doing tasks that may otherwise cause him suffering. Check out this cute video of Diesel opening the fridge!

Wag wag wag!

Niki of SFSD asked Eric to share some of his experiences with Diesel:

What do you and your dog like to do together for fun?  “His favorite activity is definitely tug of war”.

How has your dog blessed your life?  “Diesel has helped to fill a hole in my life. Though I still struggle a great deal, Diesel makes life more bearable. The unconditional love that he provides is a great comfort. The bond that we share is mutually beneficial. I could not imagine life without him. He has become an integral part of our family… Enriching not just my life but the life of my wife, my son and I am sure he will do the same for the life of our daughter when she joins us! I cannot thank Saint Francis and Dog Bless You enough for making such an impact that Diesel has made on my life and the life my family possible.”

What is your dog’s favorite thing to eat?  “Diesel hands down likes nothing more than cheese!”
