Too Cute Tuesday
This little guy has a big voice. “One of the most remarkable traits of the howler monkey is its loud, rasping howl, which can be heard roaring across the forest for well over a mile” (HowlerMonkey.org). This baby Howler Monkey will grow to 2-3 feet and move in a “troop” of 4 - 12 monkeys. “These vocal primates are the biggest of all the New World monkeys. Unlike Old World monkeys, howlers and other New World species have wide, side-opening nostrils and no pads on their rumps” (National Geographic).
They are an endangered, hunted for bush meat and losing natural habitat. Places like the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary provide much needed protection for these adorable loud mouths!
