Birds of a Feather -
These Macaws will bring a little color to your early morning. Growing anywhere from 12 to 40 inches, the largest of all parrots is the hyacinth macaw who “has an enormous wingspan of more than 4 ft!” They are social creatures who live up to 60 years in groups of 10 - 30. “Macaws typically mate for life. They not only breed with, but also share food with their mates and enjoy mutual grooming.” Macaws, including the giant hyacinth, are endangered and illegal trappings for exotic pet markets threaten their existence.
